Ukraine, a new Korea?

That's the likely outcome of this war. A divided country with the east and south controlled by Russia and the remainder effectively under control of the Western Empire.

Russia's gain will be the much coveted land bridge between itself and the vital Crimea peninsula and access to the Sea of Azov (Black Sea) and the incorporation of predominantly Russian ethnic communities in the Donbass region.

The Ukrainian government, supported by massive Western Empire military and economic aid, will retain control of the rest of Ukraine and life will go on.

While Russia will not have attained its target of "expelling nazies" and install a Russia friendly government in Kyiv, they will settle for the new territories won and erect a new "missile curtain" against the Western Empire, which will be reciprocated.

The long and short of it?

Welcome to Cold War 2.0
