The nature of warfare is changing. Having a lot of steel around you will no longer afford any protection. On the contrary, you will positively attract high precision enemy missiles, whether you are floating, rolling or flying.
The war in Ukraine is bringing this to light in no uncertain terms.
The stealth attacker is becoming a new power player on the battlefield. A small, relatively inconspicuous unit can take a battleship out of action and then disappear out of sight.
Knights in shining armour used to be the stars of the battlefield.
Unassailable until the advent of the musket and its lead balls.
Something similar is happening now and millions of tons of armour are soon heading for the scrap heap and recycling, lest armies want use all these gadgets as coffins for their soldiers.
