Little Fish Lake in East Central Alberta, south of Hanna, has become a bit of a canary in the coalmine in regards to what is happening in Alberta's soils as the multi year drought continues.
The top three photos were taken in August of 2019 and show views from the boat launch ramp.
The remaining four photos were taken from the same location on June 24, 2025, showing the lake level having dropped about 6 feet over the last six years.
And with consistent below average annual precipitation, there is no reason to believe that this trend will change any time soon.
Welcome to a drier world in Central Alberta.
