A roundtrip in the headwaters of the Red Deer River reveals low levels of accumulated snowpack
with possible implications for runoff into the Red Deer River during the spring and summer. Without substantial additional precipitation, the annual refill of the Dickson Dam may come up short of previous years.

The sparsity of snow is plainly visible, even in the high mountains.

The water is seen flowing through the low part of a V shaped rock bar across the river and constitutes the total flow of the river.
