Ongoing Drought in Central Alberta

A round trip from Caroline to Edmonton, and return, confirmed the fact that Central Alberta is literally drying out. Ample evidence in dried out slews and dugouts.

In contrast, lands along Highway 22 North from the Rocky Mountain House area looks like they are well supplied with water, judging from well filled wetlands and sloughs seen from the road. 

On the way home I stopped at the main beach in Sylvan Lake and took some pictures.

Here is one of them showing conditions that are reminiscent of the 2000-2002 drought:
