Message from Charles Aulds

America's new form of colonial expansion isn't "colonization" of other territories – the occupation of those territories by uninvited settlers ... it's "colonialism" ... in which territorial occupation is not the primary goal. The real objective is to subjugate, control, and exploit other countries. Not to place colonizers there. Ultimately, it's all about the control of other populations.

And the people of the targeted countries aren't going to permit it.

And they should not permit it. They should resist it, even if their very lives are the price they pay. When I was just a kid, like 12 years old, that would've been 1969, we lived deep in the mountains of the western Appalachians, North Carolina ... we had no television reception and I read everything I could get my hands on. Especially that thick Sunday edition of the Asheville (North Carolina) Citizen (first published in 1870). Which made me one obnoxious little shit because it was easy to find fault with many of the things the adults were saying about Vietnam. Americans weren't settling in French Indonesia; they were subjugating the indigenous people there, using massive force.

Even as a 12-year-old child, living way back in the mountains, I could not believe that there was any possible way that the Viet Cong could be defeated on their own turf. I said so. And, of course, I was told by the adults in the room that I didn't know what the hell I was talking about.

Except, apparently, I did.

Those people who are fighting western imperialism in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia … now Venezuela ... they cannot be defeated, unless they lose the will to fight.

Ho Chi Mihn and General Giap said so! And those two men certainly weren't wrong.
