On October 4th, US President Donald J. Trump hosted a dinner at the White House for the nation's top tech executives, 13 of whom were billionaires.
I think it's kinda special that we're able to witness such a blatant spectacle of obeisance to authoritarianism. Such things usually take place behind closed doors.
Microsoft's Bill Gates praised the president’s "incredible leadership." Apple CEO Tim Cook said it was "incredible to be among you ... you and the first lady" before offering his thanks to Trump "for helping American companies around the world." Other executives took turns celebrating Trump for "unleashing American innovation and creativity ... making it possible for America to win" again and making this "the most exciting time in America, ever!"
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Google co-founder Sergey Brin were there.
